As a bioscience-based site creating pioneering and innovative research, the college will further develop.

The College of Agriculture was reorganized into the School of Life and Environmental Sciences in 2005. To develop the learning developed by the College of Agriculture for education and research regarding comprehensive life environments beyond the conventional concept of agriculture, the new school is focused on advanced biosciences and brings together related academic fields.
To clarify various life processes and multilateral functions of organisms, we will develop researchers who are capable of playing active roles in industrial, academic, and governmental sectors through education in biosciences and biotechnology and also in the conservation and the creation of global environment.

Since April 2009, we have opened a new building for biological education and research on the Nakamozu Campus aimed at improving academic study and promoting advanced research and development through faculty development. At the same time, the Department and Division of Veterinary Science, and the Veterinary Medical Center have transferred to our new Rinku Campus located on the shore across from Kansai International Airport. The veterinary sciences department is carrying out improved faculty development programs at the new facilities, which are equipped with the latest educational and research equipment.
